Roger's PET/CT scan was earlier today. We thought they would give us results along with a copy of the test (so we could use it for a 2nd opinion)...they did not give us any information.
I think we both have mixed emotions about not having the info - you want to know...but you don't.
I spoke with the nurse who helped us last week to follow up on the doctors we are meeting with tomorrow. She said she would try to check Roger's electronic records in the hospital network to check on the PET scan results. I had hopes that I would have heard from her this afternoon with more info. Unfortunately she never called.
So as has been the process, we have more waiting to do.

Roger and Angie,
ReplyDeleteI wanted you both to know that Damon and I are thinking about you today and hoping that more information comes soon. We love you both...
Amanda
Not that it helps with the waiting, but according to my mother's oncologist, the radiology folks are not legally permitted to give you the test results until your doctor has reviewed them. Julie and I finagled our way into getting an early result on a CAT scan, when Mom was in the hospital in June, but that was mostly because we were pretty much completely hysterical. Not really the best of all possible negotiation perspectives. And even then we had to pretend that we hadn't seen it, so the doctor didn't get into any trouble.
ReplyDeleteOnce the doctor has reviewed it, you certainly can (and should) get a copy. Remember my science background, and, alas, my all-too-complete education regarding PET scans because of my mother, are at your disposal if you need help interpreting it. At this point I speak PET, CAT and a wide variety of blood tests :P
all my love -- t.
